The conference and the 26th Annual General Assembly of the International Association of Maritime Universities – IAMU AGA 26 were held in Split from 7 to 10 October 2026, organised by the Faculty of Maritime Studies, University of Split.
The Assembly and the conference “Human Centered Digital Ocean: Educating Safe & Green Global Maritime Professionals” brought together representatives of maritime faculties from around the world. The event was held under the auspices of the Croatian Government, the ministries responsible for maritime affairs and science, Split-Dalmatia County, the City of Split, and others.
The International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU) has grown into a global network of 83 members worldwide. Through cooperation among maritime universities, academies, and other member institutions, IAMU supports the advancement of maritime education and training and encourages the exchange of knowledge, research, and good practice within the international maritime community. The Annual General Assembly (AGA) is IAMU’s main yearly gathering, bringing members together to exchange views, review the Association’s activities, and strengthen institutional cooperation.
The gathering in Split comprised several complementary formats, each serving a different purpose within the broader programme. The Presidents’ Forum provided a space for university leaders to discuss strategic issues affecting IAMU and maritime higher education. The Plenary Session focused on the formal work of the Association and on matters relevant to its member institutions. The IAMU Project Presentations offered an opportunity to share progress, results, and information arising from initiatives supported by IAMU. The IAMU Conference complemented these activities by bringing together researchers and scientists to present and discuss current scientific and professional papers in the maritime field.
Vesna Skorupan Wolff, PhD took part in the official opening of the 26th Annual General Assembly and in the conference “Human Centered Digital Ocean: Educating Safe & Green Global Maritime Professionals”.
