The International Maritime and Transport Law Conference – Transport Law De Lege Ferenda was held at the Inter University Centre in Dubrovnik from 7th to 10th September 2026. The Croatian Maritime Law Association organized the conference. It reflected on the past fifty years of the Barcelona Convention and its Protocols and considered the ongoing challenge of safeguarding the Mediterranean. Alongside that, the conference looked at the future of shipping by discussing decarbonisation, artificial intelligence, autonomous vessels, digitalisation, and new forms of transport documentation.
Božena Bulum, PhD in co-authorship with Associate Professor Marija Pijaca, PhD and Professor Goran Jelić Mrčelić, PhD, presented a paper entitled “Atlantic Bluefin Tuna Aquaculture and Contemporary EU Decarbonisation Strategies”.
The conference was an opportunity to promote the book “The Regulation of Autonomous Vessels – Emerging Solutions”, published by Informa Law (Routledge) in May 2026. The editors of the book are Zuzanna Pepłowska-Dąbrowska, PhD and Professor Igor Vio, PhD. Božena Bulum, PhD, in cooperation with Associate Professor Marija Pijaca, PhD, authored the chapter “MASS and STCW – Emerging Issues with a Focus on Seafarers”.
