This year again, June 8 is celebrated as World Oceans Day. The date was first declared as Oceans Day in 1992 in Rio de Janeiro on the occasion of the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED).

Since then, World Oceans Day has been celebrated every year in many countries around the world, and the United Nations General Assembly officially declared June 8 as World Oceans Day in 2008. The theme of this year’s World Oceans Day is “The Ocean: Life & Livelihoods”. More information is available on the official website: https://unworldoceansday.org/
