The Conference entitled “Shipping and Insurance Law: In Memoriam Prof. Drago Pavić, PhD” will take place on Friday, December 15th, 2023, at the Library of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Zagreb.
The Conference is organized by the Adriatic Institute in collaboration with the Croatian Maritime Law Association, the Faculty of Maritime Studies at the University of Split, the Croatian Transport Law Association, and the Croatian Association of Insurance Law.
This Conference is dedicated to the late Prof. Drago Pavić, PhD, a distinguished Croatian scholar, expert, and author in the field of maritime law, and in particular marine insurance law. Professor Pavić graduated from the Faculty of Law in Split in 1964 and obtained his doctoral degree from the Faculty of Law in Zagreb in 1978. Along with his academic vocation, he pursued a brilliant business career, holding managerial positions in insurance industry (1965 – 1996).
From 1986 to 2004, he served as a professor at the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split, where he also held the position of Dean from 1997 to 2004. Professor Pavić was a close associate of the Adriatic Institute for many years, one of the editors of the journal Comparative Maritime Law, reviewer and author of numerous papers published in the journal.
The Conference will feature fourteen presentations by prominent Croatian scholars and legal experts in the field of maritime law and insurance. All interested authors will have the opportunity to submit their conference papers to be published in the special issue of the Comparative Maritime Law in 2024.
