Organized by the Faculty of Law of the University of Split, with the Adriatic Institute of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts as co-organizer, the 5th International Scientific Conference on Maritime Law (ISCML) was held in Split, Croatia, from April 9 to 11, 2025.
The conference, titled “Contemporary Challenges of Maritime Navigation,” once again brought together distinguished scholars and practitioners of maritime law from around the world. Experts from Italy, Malta, the United Kingdom, the USA, Germany, Canada, Norway, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Turkey, Slovenia, and Croatia presented their research.
Staff members of the Adriatic Institute—Dr. Vesna Skorupan Wolff, Director of the Adriatic Institute; Dr. Božena Bulum; and Associate Professor Dr. Adriana Vincenca Padovan—participated in the conference’s organizing committee and in the editorial board of the proceedings. Dr. Božena Bulum and Associate Professor Dr. Adriana Vincenca Padovan also gave oral presentations and served as session chairs.
We are proud that the maritime law community has recognized the conference as an important forum for knowledge exchange and collaboration necessary to address contemporary challenges in maritime and transport law. We thank Professor Dr. Petra Amižić Jelovčić, Chair of the Organizing Committee, for her successful collaboration, as well as all members of the organizing committee, honorary organizing committee, program committee, sponsors, invited speakers, all conference participants, and everyone who contributed to the realization of this important project for us.
The next, 6th International Scientific Conference on Maritime Law – Contemporary Challenges of Maritime Navigation – will be held in 2027 in Split.
