On June 19, 2024, seven countries signed the United Nations Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships (the Beijing Convention) at a ceremony held at Verdala Palace in Malta.
In addition to the five EU member states — Croatia, Cyprus, Italy, Malta, and Spain — the Convention was also signed by Côte d’Ivoire and Antigua and Barbuda, bringing the total number of signatories to 26. The Convention was signed on behalf of Croatia by Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlić Radman, and the ceremony was led by the President of Malta, Myriam Spiteri Debono, along with other high officials.
