The tenth International Maritime Science Conference (IMSC) was held in Solin from May 8th to 9th, 2023, organized by the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split, and in cooperation with the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport in Portoroz (Slovenia), the Hydrographic Institute of the Republic of Croatia (Split), the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Zagreb), the Split-Dalmatia County, the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia (Poland), the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy in Varna (Bulgaria), the Nikola Tesla Polytechnic in Gospić and the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO, Monaco), as co-organizers of the conference.

The conference was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies in Split, prof. Pero Vidan, PhD. At the conference, the scientific approach to solving maritime transportation problems, reducing cargo transportation costs through autonomous ships and smart ports, addressing pollution through the use of green fuels and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as addressing maritime cybersecurity, were discussed.

More than 180 scientists from Croatia and around the world (including France, Poland, the USA, Sweden, Finland, the UK, Qatar, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and others) participated in this year’s conference. Among them, the employees of the Adriatic Institute, Vesna Skorupan Wolff, Ph.D., the manager of the Adriatic Institute, Associate Professor Adriana Vincenca Padovan, Ph.D. and Božena Bulum, Ph.D., took an active role as well.

Vesna Skorupan Wolff, Ph.D., participated as a member of the Scientific Committee and presented a poster titled The Right of Control in Carriage of Goods by Sea – New Approach of Rotterdam Rules, Associate Professor Adriana Vincenca Padovan, Ph.D., participated as a member of the Organising Committee and held a presentation titled The Salient Features of the Inchmaree Marine Insurance Clauses., and Božena Bulum, Ph.D., in cooperation with Assistant Professor Marija Pijaca, Ph.D, and Professor Željka Primorac, Ph.D., held a presentation titled Public Service Compensation and Prolongation of Public Service

Contracts in the Maritime Transport Sector under European Union Law in the Case of COVID‐19. All three academic papers will be published in the Conference Book of Proceedings.
