From 1 to 3 October 2025, the ninth edition of the international conference “International Conference on Transport: the Modernisation of Passenger and Freight Transport Regulation” was held in Benicàssim. The event was organised by the Institute for Transport Law (IDT) of the University Jaume I in Castellón and brought together leading experts and scholars specialising in maritime and transport law from numerous European countries.
Adriana Vincenca Padovan, PhD, from the Adriatic Institute of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, together with co-authors Iva Tuhtan Grgić, PhD (Faculty of Law, University of Rijeka) and Nikoleta Radionov Karlović, PhD (Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb), presented a paper entitled “Insights into Croatian Case Law on Article 23 of the CMR – A Quest for Uniform Interpretation.” The paper analyses Croatian court practice concerning the interpretation of Article 23 of the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR), with particular emphasis on the limitation of the carrier’s liability and the calculation of compensation for damage.
The presentation was given within the framework of the IDT research project “The Modernisation of Passenger and Freight Transport Regulation: legal regime of the contract of carriage and related issues” (PID2023-149939NB-C31), funded by the Spanish National Research Agency MICIU/AEI and the ERDF/EU.
