Visit to the European Parliament and the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union

Božena Bulum, Ph.D., Scientific Advisor at the Adriatic Institute, visited the European Parliament and the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union and participated in a meeting where European Union Common Fisheries Policy issues and recent challenges for Croatia were discussed. Her hosts were Mrs. Paula Letunić, Deputy Permanent Representative, and Mrs. Ivana Miletić and Ivana Skitarelić, Counsellors for fisheries and criminal law.

 

Dr. Bulum presented to the hosts the activities of the Adriatic Institute of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, whose directors were prominent lawyers in the field of maritime law and international law of the sea, Professors Vladislav Brajković, Branko Jakaša and Vladimir-Đuro Degan, as well as the role that the Adriatic Institute played in the development of fisheries law and economics of fisheries in the Republic of Croatia, that were studied by the scientists employed at the Adriatic Institute, Dr. Branko Kojić and Dr. Branko Sambrailo. Dr. Bulum also presented to the hosts the research that the employees of the Adriatic Institute are currently engaged in under the leadership of the Member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, Jakša Barbić, in particular those related to the law of the European Union, including the EU's Common Fisheries Policy.
