As a member of the Adriatic Institute, Adriana Vincenca Padovan<\/strong>, PhD<\/strong> participated as an invited speaker at the workshop \u201cLiability and Compensation Regimes for Damage Resulting from Maritime Casualties\u201d<\/strong>, held on 26 and 27 November 2025<\/strong> in Zagreb. The workshop was jointly organised by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure<\/strong> and ATRAC \u2013 Adriatic Training and Research Centre<\/strong> as part of the Adriatic Sensitive Areas Protection \u2013 mechanism (ASAP)<\/a><\/strong> project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr. Padovan<\/strong> took part in the workshop together with Professor Dorotea \u0106ori\u0107<\/strong>, as part of the CroConnect \u2013 Connecting Croatia<\/a><\/strong> project, an institutional research project of the University of Rijeka<\/strong> funded through the Recovery and Resilience Facility<\/strong> and NextGenerationEU<\/strong>, led by Associate Professor Iva Tuhtan Grgi\u0107<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Prof. Dorotea \u0106ori\u0107<\/strong> delivered a presentation on the international civil liability regimes for shipowners in cases of marine pollution by oil and other hazardous substances, as well as their implementation in Croatian legislation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Adriana Vincenca Padovan delivered a presentation on the Nairobi International Convention on the Removal of Wrecks (2007)<\/strong> and its implementation in the Republic of Croatia, with particular emphasis on regulatory challenges and practical issues related to the removal of hazardous wrecks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The workshop provided an important platform for exchanging knowledge and practical experience on shipowners\u2019 liability and the protection of the marine environment, with a strong focus on safeguarding sensitive marine areas in the Adriatic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
