3rd International Scientific Conference On Maritime Law: Modern challenges of marine navigation took place in Split from 8th to 9th April 2021. Due to Covid-19 epidemic, the Conference was organized in the hybrid format. In accordance with all the epidemiological measures, a minor number of participants participated live at the Faculty of Law, University of Split while the major number used the platform Zoom to participate in the programme.
Organizers of the 3rd International Scientific Conference On Maritime Law which is traditionally being held in Split are Faculty of Law, University of Split and Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts (Adriatic Institute), Zagreb. The Conference was held under the auspicies of Ministry of Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, Ministry of Tourism, City of Split, Split-Dalmatia county and Croatian Maritime Law Association, and with the support of President of Republic of Croatia and Croatian Chamber of Economy. 53 participants coming from Italy, Malta, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Poland, Spain, Slovenia, Montenegro, Serbia and Croatia participated in the programme which demonstrates that the Conference is growing and transforming into a scientific event that is recognized worldwide. 32 presentations on novelties and challenges of contemporary Maritime Law were held at the Conference, with a special mention of key note speakers Dr. Ann Fennech, the head of the marine litigation department at Fenech & Fenech Advocates, President of the Malta Maritime Law Association and Vice President of the Executive Council of International Maritime Organization and Rhidian Thomas, Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Maritime Law and Founder Director of the Institute of International Shipping and Trade Law, at Swansea University, Wales, UK.
The Book of Proceedings of the 3rd International Scientific Conference On Maritime Law: Modern challenges of marine navigation published by the Faculty of Law, University of Split features over 20 academic papers which were presented at the Conference and passed the double-blind international peer review procedure.
Employees of the Adriatic Institute Vesna Skorupan Wolff, Ph.D., Božena Bulum, Ph.D and Adriana Padovan, Ph.D., Associate Professor, participated as members of the Organizing Committee, of the Editorial Board of the Book of Proceedings of the Conference and as speakers and authors of scientific papers presented at the Conference.
The 4th International Scientific Conference On Maritime Law will be held in Split in autumn 2022, hopefully live.
